River... by ingrid01

River...

Yesterday, it was a little cloudy when Yelena went swimming in the sea and I had a longer walk and came across this...
If I remember well the last rain we had was in January, however, when it rains the water cannot go anywhere and comes from the mountains in big streams. So obviously this "outlet" was constructed.
Last rain in January? Oh my. Flat land is dangerous in heavy rains, this looks like a great solution.

It will be interesting to go back when the rains return to take another photo.

Reminds me of Cyprus, it didn't rain out there from April to November.

It’s a bird paradise. It looks like gathering place for them.

Rich pickings for the birds.

Sad to see it empty but one gets used to it. We're not very far from you as regards rain. Our last rainfall may have been in March/April and we will probably have t wait for October for the next shower.

Superb pov on this storm drain. Scary things when they are in full flow, but preferable to flooding.

@onewing this one might a bit tricky to get to when it rains. It is behind the embassies, so no car access for "normal" people. The only by the beach after quite a walk and I'm not sure if that will be safe. However, I found some other places I like to check out when it rains!
On average we'll have about 10 rain days a year and I probably have to wait a bit for the time frame you mentioned (Nov - March)

@dutchothotmailcom @wakelys @4rky Thank you for all your comment - also on other posts. It is a pretty cool place and I plan to go back there!

@louannwarren - yes, that is why we miss the Texas storms so badly... but we are fine. The country and people are used to it - no water shortage or any problems here of that kind.

@sangwann Interesting! I didn't realize Malta had a very dry summer too!

@casablanca You are right! And thank you for the word "storm drain". Having only about 10 days of rain per year I forgot the word :)
