This is my choice for Yelena's B&W portrait. It was hard, but seeing the pictures in color and B&W, I liked this best in B&W.
The sun was setting quickly and just in front of her. This causes a kind of outline along her shoulder and arm, which is better visible in B&W. Also in my opinion the colors of her top and pants are kind of distracting in color...
I like sewing and in the beginning of the pandemic when I made some masks, she got interested and made a few masks for herself too. Then she wanted to do something more and we made pants (from a fabric once bought to become a table cloth).
The next step was buying some fabric. She chose a cerise color cotton and made the pants, she is wearing here, on her own!
But that is not all! The top we made together from her old jeans.
Living in a Muslim country she hardly wears the top, but she loves the pants.
This not only because she chose the fabric and made them, but because they are easy to pull over her swimsuit after practice and still look decent :)
Beautiful portrait. Yelena has a wonderful smile and is very attractive. Great story about your sewing My father, now gone, was a well-known tailor in the city he lived in.
Everything about this is wonderful. I love her smile! She will be so glad all her life that she knows how to sew. I saw on television last evening that 14 million Texans are having to boil their water, there are places in Dallas Nadya could go to get a case or two of bottled water, if she needs to.
@louannwarren Thank you Lou Ann! From (old) neighbors in Houston I heard that they were giving bottled water out at the church behind our street. And I passed on to Nadya that there must be initiatives like that in Dallas too.
She just told me that they are fine and although the water was off for a few hours yesterday she had a very nice shower.
