boat at herston

My scanner stopped working after this one was scanned, it's not my favourite. I was trying out the different set focal lengths but should have concentrated a bit more on the composition as the rope is in the middle and is annoying me. I will try and catch up soon. Huge thanks for getting ivy window on the PP - much appreciated !

camera Rollei
film Kodak gold
You always find the best stuff to photograph. I just love the texture.

I do like it though. The perspective of the boat being dry docked in relation to the water is great. As you've focused in on the wear and tear of the old boat and the many good days of fishing it appears to have had it's clear that those days are behind it now. Nice.

fav for me, great shot.

Fav! Gorgeous texture and composition :)

Great texture and dof

For me I really like that bit of rope.. makes my eyes want to grab it and climb over the side.. this is a great shot Ingrid..
February 16th, 2013
Still works though, but yes I would have had it composed slightly to the left, good shot none the less. Shame about the scanner, fixable?
February 16th, 2013
I love the rope too. Beautiful colors and colors that I wouldn't want to crop to move the rope.

@jase_h My thinking too Jase - just a little bit over, thank you!, My husband is busy trying to fix it - and i think he's done it! I think he wants me to stop swearing !
February 16th, 2013
Haha, its amazing what us men can fix in those situations. Liking the look of that boat in the background as well, and shots of that?

@ingrid2101
February 16th, 2013
@jase_h I must go back but with the Nikon instead as much as I love the Rollei I prefer total manual.
February 16th, 2013
@vase I tried cropping but it was wrong! Thanks Carla :)
February 16th, 2013
Ah yes, I think that is why I wanted it now, for a street photoging cam, big fan of auto and just aperture only mode for street

@3whiteroses Thank you Angela - you trip over old stuff here - very much a culture of not throwing anything away! It annoys a lot of people, but not me :)
@wikked Thank you Grant - don't fancy going to sea in this one!
@chewyteeth Thank you Dave, :D
@kaiakate @corgimom Thank you very much !
@mizhayz Thank you - I liked the rope as well!

The old cameras will certainly outlive digital scanners.
Looking forward to seeing the rest of your set

Love those colours of the sky echoed in the peeling paint of the boat... I agree with Deb, the rope is inviting me to climb right in there. Glad your scanner is reanimated!

The lighting in this is amazing Ingrid. The boat has so much texture and charm. I love it.
February 16th, 2013
I think the rope adds to the composition makes you wonder where it been and where it going
February 16th, 2013
Beautiful! Love the subject and composition. I like the rope, too. I looks like it's waiting for the viewer to take hold and row away.
February 16th, 2013
Pretty detail. It's nice seeing the unfocused background.
February 16th, 2013
Nice DoF!!
February 16th, 2013
Beautiful texture on the boat, love the rustic colour.
February 16th, 2013

Great pic ! Love everything especially the DOF & the ROPE !!
February 16th, 2013
Oh & a fav for me :)
February 16th, 2013
I like the line and the texture of the rope as a focal point and love the boat. i agree that a move of the rope might be good though iwould go to the right with it to allow the eye to be led along the front boat to the back boat. But just nit picking really as the photo is great.

@jameshislop Scanner fixed! I do love a bit of tech. - until it goes wrong :)
@spankyjane Thanks Mel, breathe again!
@masosy Thanks Kate - it was a bit texture heaven at that spot!
@mgozzard Thank you Margaret - I just wish I'd thought to move the rope!

This is gorgeous Rebecca and I shouldn't worry about the rope too much. It adds to the mystique.
February 16th, 2013
Another beautiful shot ingrid. Could get boring being this good. But i doubt it! ;-)

Sorry about the scanner. I wish we could get rid of the tech stuff. But I guess I has to be done. I do understand the crop thing and all but this shot all round is perfect!!! FAV

@ingrid2101 Hi Ingrid. I try to answer individually but even I get swamped at times plus I tend to forget to do my chores around the house! Talking of which... it's time to clean the bathrooms!
February 18th, 2013
Very nice as usual, seems Orkney light has a special quality. The rope doesn't bother me at all, I like it where it is.
February 19th, 2013
Just amazing. An instant fav for me!!! Love the focus, the tones, the comps.
