Manically busy and just using fillers. I'm on holiday for a week starting Monday but still have tomorrow to work. The joys of being your own boss means doing extra if there is more work so I've been staying late to get all my work finished. Today was stunningly beautiful and HOT!! Bliss, but not a happy bunny being stuck inside. This is from a cottage in Hoy that was impossible to get into but I took some photos through a window. It just amazes me how things are just abandoned and there were quite a few like that. Most of them were old wooden structures, I imagine they were from the wartime as Lyness was the navy's naval base during WW2, I can't remember exactly how many people were here but somewhere around 20,000. When you consider the islands population is around 300 that's quite a big difference. Incredible island with so many fascinating buildings and war structures everywhere you look.
Processed in snapseed, just everything imaginable. Funny that all my analog work is more or less exactly as I took it but i go OTT with the iphone
This is fascinating....especially after reading the write up about it. Wow. I love 365 for that. WE can see into the most remote places...and learn so much. I love this..haunting...
I cannot help but fav this. Wonderful processing. There is something about how the drawers are hanging open that allows me to superimpose my own stories onto this image :)
wonderful find. Yes, so eerie to see furnishings and personal items left behind like this. Thanks for sharing the background information about the island. Love your capture - through the window, no less! Fantastic processing, too. FAV
i love the mysterious look of this, lovely lighting, and the focus of it somehow makes it look like the inside of a doll's house. there is something quite disorienting about the focus. would never have guessed this was taken on your phone!
