This little Great Crested Grebe chick was enjoying a tasty fish that his mum had brought for him when we were in the park this afternoon.
We've been keeping an eye on their nest over the last few weeks so I was really pleased to see the chick riding along on the back of his dad today.
Wish I could have got closer, had better light, sharper focus etc etc, I think I'd probably need the patience of a saint and a very long zoom lens (I have neither) to get another chance at a shot like this.
Awesome shot. Just to see this is fabulous, to actually record it is amazing. I have been watching two pairs but can't see or get anywhere near the nest. Hoping Mum & Dad will bring baby/babies for a ride past me.
@markp oh yes, a swim past would be nice! They're staying close to the nest, in amongst the bushes and branches but I'm hoping for a better view next time. I was absolutely thrilled to see it though, it really made my day.
