We've reached the far-off land of Orkney today where the sun sets late, rises early and it's hardly dark in between. We've seen so many seabirds, wild flowers and beautiful wild coastal scenery today it's been amazing.
The sun cleared the clouds just in time to see it set. Loved the colours it created on the way.
What a wonderful sunset, and what a wonderful time to go up to the Orkney's. It's a fabulous place to visit and each of the islands seem to have their own character. Difficult choice, but I think my favourite is Sanday, best description I have heard, is thats it's a giant sand dune. It has miles and miles of beautiful white sandy beaches, very often without a soul on them.
I was very nearly up there this week too, couple of things cropped up and I changed my mind, unfortunately.
@markp we visited Orkney a few years ago but the weather was pretty miserable so we didn't see it at it's best. Hoping to get to some of the islands this time.!
@inthecloud5 Only some of the islands ? Haha, when I was up there last year I chased around and visited every island that the Orkney Ferries go to, plus a couple of others as well. It did take a bit of planning though to do it in just over a week.
