This is a small skipper, one of ten different types of butterfly we saw today in a couple of different nature reserves in Cumbria.
It was ideal conditions for them and despite the dry weather the wild flowers seem to be flourishing in some places and the butterflies are making the most of them.
It may be small in size but it seems to be very bold, I watched it chase bees and other butterflies away from the flowers it wanted to land on.
