This blackbird landed in the middle of the rapeseed as we were walking along the edge of the field. I was hoping I wouldn't disturb it as I got the camera out, fortunately it didn't fly away for a couple of minutes so it gave me a bit more time to get the focus on the bird. I must have taken a dozen shots with the flowers in focus but did get one of the blackbird in the end!
Do you have the new 500 mm nikon lens? I like bed it when I rented it recently. This is totally gorgeous. Great focus, bokeh, color. There’s a teeny halo around the bird...maybe too much sharpening or clarity? Worth the effort to get perfect in my opinion
@jgpittenger yes, I tried it out the 500mm lens and liked it so bought one. It's a great lens for me because I can carry it in my backpack when we're out hiking without too much effort!
I agree with you about the edit, I'm going to start again with this. I didn't do much to it other than crop and remove a distracting flower stalk at the bottom of the bird. But I'd already used Topaz ( the trial version of a new de-noise programme) and I think that introduced the halo. I realise I should have done the sharpening at the end then I could have undone it but I'll remember to do it the right way round now! Probably won't use Topaz again either, it seems a bit extreme.
Thanks for your comments Jane, I do appreciate them 🙂
