Statues of Marx & Engels, Memento Park, Budapest

I'm posting this to show my good 365 friend Korcsog Károly (lives in Budapest). I may have posted it before but this is the only way I can do this.

Unlike many other places after The Wall came down, the people of Hungary did not destroy the Soviet era statues. Instead they created a park on the periphery of Budapest for them. Now it is a tourist attraction and I think has many more exhibits of all kinds than when we visited in 2007.
A super capture, nicely framed by the arch. Fav!! 😀

Great statue.
We were in Hungary in 1987 (Lake Balaton) and visited Budapest too. We loved the city.

Beautiful shot, Ivan. Love that stone arch. Good thing they kept the statues - a memory that cannot, and should not, be erased. If we don't learn from the past we will do the same mistakes.

It is a good piece of art. I wish we had politicans of their stature around at the moment. We have visited Budapest - ithink some of the population are having a hard time of it.
