You can see where the divider would have been, it would have separated two classes. There was one desk left when I found this place, last weekend. I wonder how many pupils passed through here? In front of the desk is the fire place which heated the whole building. My father who attended a school like this said it was more important that a pupil brought fuel for the fire in winter than their books.. Remembering Tom Morley on this fathers day...

I am imagining children bringing a few pieces of wood, or coal in their book bag. This is such a great capture. The lighting, and tones are wonderful. Love it!
At first when I look at this shot i see the starkness of it, how it is a derelict space, but when I read your words it comes to life and I wonder how different it was than when my mum was a child. Though she grew up in Dublin, she certainly did not have a childhood that I did.
