bat box, shadows and a canoe tree

went on a nature walk with the kindergartners today. in the woods the leader told us this tree (which I can't remember the name of) was used by the American Indians for canoes because it was hard wood and grew very straight! we are having gorgeous weather! the kids had a great time and I love photographing those little faces! the teacher I go with is one I used to work with as a teacher's aide. she is retiring this year so I will miss tagging along!
I love the leaf shadows and the shadow on the tree almost looks as if it's carved out to be a canoe.
