This weaverbird I saw last tuesday in the Amsterdam zoo, Artis. It was clearly starting a new home or maybe an annex..... I really liked the way his little paws grabbed both branches and pulled them together to bind them with the straw he had in his beak.
How amazing, I never knew you had them there too. That looks like a Lesser Masked Weaver, although his head has much more black than here. Lovely shot.
@ludwigsdiana Thank you Diana. I have only seen them in Amsterdam zoo, but the have a whole flight of them there. I recognized them immediately from your photo’s, the things we learn here.... 😉
the weaver birds are adorable. the male builds the nest and invites the female. if the female does not like the nest, the male will build another next until the female is satisfied.
They are one of my favourite birds to watch - alway so colourful and noisy
@joansmor Thank you so much Joan!
