Annex or new home? by jacqbb

Annex or new home?

This weaverbird I saw last tuesday in the Amsterdam zoo, Artis. It was clearly starting a new home or maybe an annex..... I really liked the way his little paws grabbed both branches and pulled them together to bind them with the straw he had in his beak.
Sweet capture, I like the twigs framing him.

How amazing, I never knew you had them there too. That looks like a Lesser Masked Weaver, although his head has much more black than here. Lovely shot.

Wevers zijn interressante nestbouwers. Zie ze soms on N.G. op TV.
( Vond ze ook super Engels hilaries.)

@pyrrhula Ze zijn inderdaad knappe nesten bouwers en ze maken enorm veel herrie :)

the weaver birds are adorable. the male builds the nest and invites the female. if the female does not like the nest, the male will build another next until the female is satisfied.
They are one of my favourite birds to watch - alway so colourful and noisy
