Magere brug (skinny bridge) in Amsterdam

The famous skinny bridge across the river Amstel and opposite of the Carré theatre, is an Old Dutch design wooden bridge known as a double-swipe (balanced) bridge. Tradition relates that the bridge was named after the sisters Mager, who were supposed to live on opposite sides of the river. They are said to have had the wooden bridge built to make it easier to visit one another.
A great shot and lovely story.

@ludwigsdiana It was lovely to visit Amsterdam, it’s my hometown. Although we live in a beautiful village now once in a while i love to visit. Thank you for your comment.

@tstb13 @ideetje @madeinnl Altijd zo’n leuk bruggetje en omdat we redelijk op tijd waren ook nog heerlijk rustig.......lekker midden op de weg staan zonder gestoord te worden door automobilisten en toeristen.

I like the contrasting color of the bridge to the road and buildings.

What lovely scenery. It really captures the feeling of an old European city - quite full of character.
