Avocado by jacqbb

Avocado

I planted that avocado stone just a few weeks back and just saw moments ago that it sprouted.
With the flashlight on my phone I got a bit of shadow.
sweet - will you plant it in the ground? I think they take a long time from seed to fruit?

I tend to agreee with KaolaGardens as I have tried it many times. Lovely shot.

@koalagardens No Katrina, it is to cold here to put it in the ground. I tried that with other avocadoseeds, they all died on me. This time it is going to live in a pot and stay warm and save.........I hope. Thank you for your comment.

@robz Thanks Rob, I tried, it is sometimes difficult to make a photo a bit interesting.

How exciting! I'd not seen anyone actually plant the pit. We used to stick toothpicks around the diameter and suspend them from the rim of a glass, into water the lower half... then they'd crack and maybe sprout but I've never seen one successfully sprout and then survive a transplantation into soil. I hope you do keep us posted on it's development! It does make a nice shot - rebirth of sorts, for the new year!

@30pics4jackiesdiamond Thank you Jackie, I keep you posted. It is easy enough: put the stone in a pot, keep the earth moist, put a plastic bag over the pot and keep it warm.
