Red-Eye Roses by jamibann

Red-Eye Roses

I bought these at the New Year's Eve market yesterday - I have never seen these before. They call them 'Red-Eye' roses. I can't decide if they're beautiful or not, but they're certainly unusual. I can't believe that today is the first day of a new year. Here's to 2016!

They are very strange looking, I want to refer to them as mutated. I'm sure that they are a great conversation starter!

I was quite curious about these roses after reading your description so I looked them up and evidently the Red Eye was a new variety in or around 2014 . . . a unique combination of red flower petals with green petals in the center . . . a very long vaselife so hopefully you'll decide they're beautiful since you'll have them for awhile . . . a very good purchase for the start of 2016. And a wonderful capture! Fav!

@gaylewood I'm impressed that you took the time to check them out ... something I didn't get round to doing! I do like them, but prefer the simplicity of regular roses. But it does seem they're going to last longer!

They are certainly interesting. Are they actually roses? Hope you have a great 2016.

Absolutely beautiful with all those ruffled petals and the contrasting center. Unusual, for sure; but I quite like them! :-)
