Pine Cones from Les Landes

La forêt des Landes is the largest maritime-pine forest in Europe. The word 'landes' means 'moors' or 'heaths'.

Whilst out walking at the weekend, I gathered a few pine cones to take home. Some of them, like the two above, are the size of my hand.
