I took this yesterday on my walk into Paris to the Petit Palais - I was going to see the exhibition of Dutch Painters there. It was excellent. The Petit Palais is such a beautiful building in itself, which makes any exhibition there worth going to!
On the way, I crossed the Passerelle Debilly, where I noticed lots of signs asking people not to fill the bridges with love locks. It's a real problem in Paris. The words on the sign were 'Our Bridges Can't Cope With The Weight Of Your Love - Please Stop!' However, all around the signs were ... you've got it, love locks, including this little group dangling merrily in front of The Lady herself!
Classic! Nicely taken photo, I love the comparison of the two. I hate love locks, they ruin perfectly beautiful architecture and views and I love that sign - what it must do to the balance of the bridge doesn't bear thinking about!!
I love the image so much -- the locks in contrast, but the same shape -- so effective. And had to smile at the challenge of stopping the leaving of locks. IT's so much a part of bridge culture now around the world.
