Mayor Anne Hidalgo has decreed that the big wheel at Place de la Concorde must come down. I don't find it at all offensive, but she feels it cheapens this historical area of Paris. Anyway, like it or lump it, it's coming down. The owner, Marcel Campion, fought against this decree, but lost. As I passed yesterday, it was half way dismantled and I caught a few images of it coming down. I rather liked this view of the ongoing work with the Luxor Obelisk in the background.
Cool photo! Seems a shame that the Big Wheel is coming down. Seeing the worker sitting there on the steelwork of the ferris wheel, this photo reminds me a bit of the iconic photo 'Lunch Atop a Skyscraper' taken during the construction of the Rockefeller Center in NYC. :-)
coming down.
