On our way home today, we stopped in past the 'devil's pulpit', the name given to the mushroom-shaped rock in the back of this photo. It's a very deep, dank, damp gorge where the water looks to run red, because of the red sandstone rock beneath it. The descent to the gorge was pretty slippery, with the original stone staircase fairly dilapidated and not that safe, despite ropes which had been placed to help people with the descent. We just stayed long enough to get a couple of photos, and get on our way. Interesting though and apparently one of the places used when filming the series 'Outlander'.
Ooh what a strange place full of creepy atmosphere! It looks like a long arm and hand reaching out on the rhs! Sounds like it was a difficult climb to get this shot so well done!
