Yesterday's hike was up to Loch Etchachan, passing by this cute little bothy, and onwards up to Ben Mheadhoin, returning home by Derry Cairngorm. An arduous day out, accompanied by fabulous summer temperatures, but winter's remnants were still very evident, especially on the north faces. This bothy is mostly referred to as the Hutchison memorial hut, built as it was, in the memory of Arthur Hutchison - a lover of the Cairngorms who ultimately died in a climbing accident in Wales. The plaque on the side of the hut reads 'So will I build my altar in the fields, and the blue sky my fretted dome shall be, and the sweet fragrance that the wild flower yields, shall be the incense I will yield to thee'.
Just thinking I bet you were taking layers on and off! I love the quotation- we’re starting to think about a headstone for my mum and wondering what to put on it.
@judithg Yes, we never put anything on mum's headstone, but with hindsight, I think we should have. Ah, well, hope you find something appropriate for your mum.
