A Basket of Basil!

The basil in the greenhouse has been fantastic this year. However, all good things must come to an end and it is starting to get too cold for it. So, I harvested it all this morning and will chop and freeze, so I'll have basil all through winter. Not the same as fresh, but still good for sauces and pasta dishes.

That is a great crop!! Ours ended a while ago...any thoughts on what to do with an abundance of parsley?

You can chop & freeze basil…I had no idea! I bought a lovely basil plant & it’s grown big but I can’t use it all so I think I will copy you…..love your trug filled with this green goodness!

@taffy Oh, I just chop and freeze parsley. It lasts well that way and is great for soup and sauces.

@busylady Not a bad idea! I've cut it all back, but could try reviving one and popping it into a pot for indoors.

@happypat I think you lose a bit of the flavour by freezing, but it still works well for sauces, etc.
