"The total amount of energy we use every year - from coal, oil, natural gas, hydro, nuclear, and everything else - is dwarfed by the amount of solar energy hitting the planet each year."

Thank you all for commenting on my photo of the oil pumpjack under the dramatic clouds. It's not often that I post the very day I take a photo or straight out of camera, but this is both of those things. We took a short trip up to the northern part of the state where there is a thriving oil industry. We went for a hike in two wilderness areas (posted today), and when we headed back after sunset, Charlie discovered that he was missing his 44 year old wedding ring. So the next morning we arose early and went back to look for it. We didn't find it, but I did get this photo from a very remote area.
@rosiekerr@cathieg@888rachel Thank you so much for your sympathy for Charlie's lost ring. He was quite sad. We have already bought a replacement that he likes. Last year he got very sick and was hospitalized for a length of time, and he lost so much weight. This is why the ring was loose. He should have had it resized but kept putting it off.
