Thanks so much for commenting on my photo of Charlie in the mountain meadow. Around here, mountaintops often have the name "Baldy," and this is why.The tree line ends and the meadow begins.
@harbie Thanks so much, Harbie. I recommend this hike to you. It is #8, the North Baldy Trail, and is the last trail before the road ends on the way up the mountain. We saw many people there with NM Tech t shirts on. We did not hike the entire 10 miles but turned around and went back the way we came. I imagine most of the year it is closed as it has such a high elevation, but I've read that the autumn trees are very pretty in the Magdalena Mountains. http://magdalena-nm.com/trails-end/hiking_trails/magdalena-mtns-trails-descriptions.pdf
