It's like the early bird saying..... you need to be up early to catch this gorgeous sky.

Just beautiful. I hope you don't mind if I ask you a question. Our two adult girls are talking about doing combining a skiing Xmas trip next Xmas with a couple of weeks of sight seeing somewhere in the USA. We'll probably go too and extend our trip to see more of the countryside. Your images show so many lovely sights from New Mexico I was wondering would that be a feasible area to investigate - does your area get reliable snow at Xmas, and would a driving trip involve distances which are too extreme. We're used to doing about 300km as a max in a day. Don't worry about this if it's a nuisance. Cheers Rob

@robz What a wonderful Christmas you have planned! New Mexico does have skiing, but in Albuquerque where we live, it is not reliable. It is up in Taos which is near Colorado. Taos has the old New Mexico charm that I try to include in my project, and it is not too far from Albuquerque, about a two hour drive. Sometimes the roads may even be closed because of snow, but that is rare. The Interstate highways are usually open. Frankly, Colorado would be a much more reliable place to go for skiing. Denver's airport is quite large, so you would have to make fewer connecting flights to get there. It is a hub for Interstate highways as well. A great person to advise you would be Harbie @harbie. She has lived in New Mexico and visits her son here regularly, and she now lives in Colorado. She is also a skiier, which I am not. She could tell you the merits of both places. https://365project.org/harbie/365-2/2019-12-07
If you do make it near us, please let us know. We could even drive to meet you for a photo shoot! The West is more spread out than other places in the US, but not like some places in Australia, so I don't think you would find it too daunting. For sightseeing, Utah and Arizona also have wonderful destinations. I am sure both Harbie and I can gladly give you insight for these areas.

Thank you so much for taking the time to answer Jane - I do appreciate it. You have answered so many questions that I had and thanks so much for giving me Harbie's link. I shall definitely take all of your advice. One of our daughters had mentioned Utah as a possibility so that was interesting to see you mention it's destinations too.
Your offer to drive to meet up for a photoshoot is so very kind - that is just wonderfully nice of you. It would be delightful to meet you in person and would be a highlight of our trip! We are still very much at the preliminary planning stage and the girls will make the final decision - they are the skiers - mad things that they are! I know they have also floated Oregon as a possibility.
Thank you again for your wonderful reply. Cheers Rob
