Rich, milk chocolate-colored pieces of pointy gravel lined the path into the forest at the Springs Folk Festival last Saturday. Softly crunching our way deeper and dimmer into the company of rain-soaked tree trunks encrusted with silvery green lichen, we followed our noses toward smoke and a jovial vendor bellowing, “Wanna try a chestnut?” Yes, we most certainly did wanna try a roasted chestnut! He reached through the smoke and creaked open a lid to reveal the hot, golden goodies.
Above, Virginia Creeper wound its way around this and that while, below, ferns and moss battled for ground amongst a colorful confetti of fallen leaves. Nature’s beauty mingled with beautiful crafts created by passionate artisans. We eventually emerged from the enchanted forest, thrilled that we didn’t let the drizzle deter us from attending this fabulous annual event!
@lhart Virginia Creeper is one of our native perennial vines. They turn a beautiful shade of red in the Fall. This one is just beginning its color change. Thank you so much for commenting on my project. I always love to hear from you!

@cejaanderson Ohh, I didn't know you had Virginia Creeper in your area. It is such a beautiful vine, and the birds love its berries! Thanks so much for commenting. I always enjoy hearing from you!
