My reaction to Magnolias For Pittsburgh, the art installation in the 7th and Penn Parklet in the heart of Pittsburgh’s Cultural District? Love at first sight! The two bronze magnolia trees delight viewers year-round, especially in Winter when snow dusting their everblooming blossoms stops unknowing passersby in their puzzled tracks.
About 800 individually hand-painted petals make up the blossoms on each tree, and no two blossoms are alike. Five live magnolia trees surround the two bronze beauties; and all are tucked into a corner between massive, ivy-covered walls — a sprinkle of magic in our beautiful city!
