Finch

Thank you, Lord, for owl finches.

The ring of feathers outlining the white face has this little finch resembling a barn owl and results in it often being referred to as an owl finch. Watching these perky, little finches in the Grasslands exhibit at the National Aviary makes me happy — every time!
Beautiful focus and dof. Pretty tones too.

What a precious little creature! And an amazing photograph of him. Your DOF is fantastic, making the pine background like fanfare behind him. (if that makes any sense) Love the markings on these little finches.

@pej Ooo, Paul, please do visit the National Aviary...I think you'd love it! Brimming with beautiful birds, it's a photographer's dream! Such a peaceful, relaxing place, too. It's definitely one of Pittsburgh's treasures!

And thank you so much for your kind comment. I always appreciate when you stop by!
