Thank you, Lord, for the spent pear flower suspended like magic above the driveway.
This flower stopped me in my tracks on my morning garden walk. I'm accustomed to seeing thousands of them on the concrete driveway beneath the Cleveland pear trees, but I found this one spinning round and round seemingly in mid-air! It took me a minute or so to finally find the thin, nearly invisible strand from which it dangled. I saw no sign of the spider, who apparently tried unsuccessfully to build a web stretching from the pear to the elderberry. I suppose it moved on to try again elsewhere, leaving the flower to spin on a single thread.
