River Birches by janetb

River Birches

We just accept it. Thousands of galls appear on the leaves of all three of our River Birches every year. Insects laying eggs on the leaves cause the amazing variety of bumps, and other insects come to prey upon whatever's hatching at the time. Today, young aphids in huge numbers attracted dozens of hungry ladybugs. Bees and flies came hungry, too. This fly's waiting on a nearby Winterberry leaf for its turn to dine.

I praise you, Lord, for our garden teeming with life.
I honour your acceptance of the house fly as a praiseworthy part of garden insect life! You even make him look quite splendid sitting there on the leaf.
