perhaps it's an age thing...... by jantan

perhaps it's an age thing......

took my Mum to London to see a show as it is her birthday tomorrow. Walked through Covent Garden on the way to the theatre.

I lived in London for several years in the 80s and 90s, and loved every minute of it. Although I still love to visit, nowadays I am always glad to get back to the countyside.......

.......perhaps it's an age thing
It's a fantastic structure and you've captured the atmosphere well. And yes you are very right - It's best to be able to escape from it!

Gorgeous shot - love Covent Garden. I start working in CG on Monday as our offices are moving there :-)

It doesn't look real though I know it is. It looks a bit like the Chelsea Flower show building! Almost like life stopped when you took this photo!

Great photo. I can remember it from our visit ten years ago

I'd recognise Covent Garden anywhere, I love that place. Great use of HDR, it brings the place to life.

Lovely image and processing...it's been about 20 years since I was last there but I recognise it straight away!! :D x

I was there on Tuesday :) It's one of my must visit places whenever I'm in the capital. Lovely shot.

Meant to ask what show you saw. I'm hoping to see Singin' in the Rain next time I'm down - it's my fave :)

@anron My Mum is a big 'Strictly' fan, so I took her to see Vincent and Flavia in their Midnight Tango show. I'm not really a musical theatre fan, but from what I have heard Singin' in the Rain sounds very good.

HDR? This works really well. I'm not a huge fan of HDR, but if this is, then I might think about converting!!!

BTW Don't know if it's an age thing or not but in my opinion London is dirty, smelly, too busy, too many people and I LONG to get back to the open fresh air and green countryside when I there for longer than a nanosecond. I don't like being jostled and I prefer to breathe clean air. Oh, do I sound like a grumpy old person? Whoops

@joannapayne It is HDR Joanna. I use either tone mapping or HDR in most of my shots, but usually try not to make it obvious. I purposely used a heavier hand in this case because I think that this sort of subject matter really suits it.
