Graham went off to work yesterday with his suitcase, not sure whether he was going to be going out with a friend of his for the evening and staying overnight at his house. His friend had called the night before to say that he was worried that he might have to fly out to Bratislava on business that night. In the end he didn't. Strange tho because I have never known anyone to go to Bratislava before but my brother is going there tomorrow to see the Buzzcocks - quite a coincidence.
The dog woke me up four damn times in the night - I am beginning to remember how I used to feel when I had newborn babies. In the end, so she couldn't see the fox that had been bothering her, I locked her out of the kitchen and she spent a very peaceful night asleep on the little landing at the top of the stairs. I even had to step over her sleeping form on my way downstairs in the morning.
I spent an hour or so at my parents' house and my Mum and I went through a load of old photos. At some points we were crying with laughter at some of the outfits she used to dress us up in in the past. I took this shot on the way there. Very little editing, but I did fiddle about with the 'picture styles' on my camera - been meaning to have a go at that for a while.
I was hosting the book club this evening. Quite a good turnout and those of us who had read "A Prayer for Owen Meaney" had really enjoyed it. As usual an alarming quantity of wine had been drunk by all. We have a gardener one morning a week and he usually guesses when it has been book club by the number of empty bottles outside the back door. All a bit embarrassing really. Fun tho!
The host usually chooses the next book to be read and I had been asked by a couple of people to make it something a bit more easy reading than the last couple of books. I picked The Unlikely Pilgimage of Harold Fry. Hopefully they will enjoy it as much as I did.
@dh About half of the people loved it and the other half gave up part way through. I have read the Harold Fry one - thought it was great. A couple of us have already read it so we are going to look at "The Hundred Year Old Man Who Climbed Out of the Window and Disappeared" for comparison
@princessm This was done in the 'landscape' style which increases saturation in greens and blues. I also increased the sharpness and contrast slightly in-camera.
@judithg No Judith, as I drove away from home I though 'bugger, I have forgotten my polarising filter' but I just used one of the 'picture styles' on my camera and upped the contrast and sharpness a bit in-camera. (First time I'd done it so deffo no expert!)
I can definitely recommend the increased book club wine consumption, the only problem being that I didn't get to bed til 1am on a school night.
Just catching up...an even better sky. This is tres dramatic, I like it. Fav!
You know you have my sympathy on the night waking, but your winey book club sounds awesome. I may give Harold's Pilgrimage a go next - hadn't heard of it but have just googled and it sounds a goodie.
Always on the hunt for new books-authors...looks good. Just got done with Marshmallows for breakfast, quick fluff read.
