Picked Angus up at 11ish, He was still in one piece, and after a quadruple portion of chocolate Shreddies he went to bed and didn't emerge until 6.30pm, so I am guessing that he had a good time at his party.
While Graham did the three hour round trip to Doncaster to visit his Mum who hasn't been well, I marbled the shells of some hard boiled eggs. They looked really pretty. I did try to photograph the results, but the photos looked dreadful so it's an Easter lamb shot today instead.
I planted the dyed eggs in one of the nest boxes in our hen house and called a couple of friends who have young children asking if they would like to come and collect the eggs for me. When they got here I told them that sometimes at Easter our chickens lay special eggs. They were delighted when they found them, and even more so when the discovered the Creme Eggs that the Easter Bunny had mysteriously left in the boxes on the opposite side of the hen house. Such fun, where did those days go.....
When Graham got home we had a piece of belly pork that had been roasting in a very low oven in the Aga for the past 24 hours. All of the fat had come out of it and you could have eaten it with a spoon - yum!
such fun stories. i love your photos and your stories just as much. when my son was little, he was always worried about the fact that the easter bunny took eggs from some hens that we knew at the time. he thought we should standn guard the day before easter.
Fabulous shot Jan and a Fav. I knew your son would be OK and glad that he survived alright. It's quite natural to worry though. We wouldn't be good parents if we didn't! I love hearing about the Easter egg hunt in the hen house
mmm - that does sound yum and I am feeling very bad about our leg of lamb after seeing yet another gorgeous lamb pic. I tried to persuade Nigel to do a an Easter treasure hunt for the kids but nobody except me was on for it - and I offered egg dying/decorating and was turned down. I do have little friends I can rally but Adam's busy revising so that he can take time off for hockey later in the hols so I'll have to wait till he's back at school - they were all prepared to eat large amounts of Easter grub though luckily!
What a cutie!
I loved the story about the chickens laying 'special' eggs for Easter. Those kids will always remember that.
