A quick macro shot. I have been eyeing this particular flower up for a couple of days waiting for it to open up just the right amount for my shot. I quite like the shadows, tho I guess they wont be to everybody's taste.
I have been very flattered and surprised by the response to yesterday's piggy shots. I only put the second one on as an afterthought today and it has done much better than my original choice - I obviously have poor taste! Thanks for all the comments and faves.
Angus had five hours of art GCSE today and has got another five hours tomorrow. He came home tonight in nothing short of a blind panic. It had not gone well. Basically due to his lack of preparation. Although I am feeling extremely frustrated with him because he has been telling me for the past three weeks that it is all under control, it is so horrible to see him in this state. He and I spent an hour or so this evening doing a bit of painting with acrylics and I think it has improved his confidence a bit for tomorrow. Doubly frustrating tho because I have been offering to do something like this with him for weeks. Hopefully he will remember how he is feeling today and it might make him want to avoid feeling equally unprepared when it comes to the rest of his exams - I live in hope. Grrrr - moan over.
Graham went and collected our two pigs today after their extended sleepover with a boar. They left us as girls and have returned women. They seem to be in fine fettle and the people who they have been staying with say that they think that they are already probably three weeks pregnant. So the patter of tiny trotters might be with us in three months time.
Sam is back at school tomorrow. I think he is quite looking forward to it - three weeks is a long holiday at this time of year.
I must have the same taste as you ~ my 2nd choice today has got far more favourable response than my first choice :-)
Oh patter of little trotters ~ how exciting :-)
urgh ~ exams ~ thank fully my worrying was over with some years ago ~ having said that she went on to do A levels, Maths degree and now doing a Mental Health Nursing degree [LOL] ~ but she is almost 30 so she can worry for herself these days :-)
and onto your shot ~ I love it! Beautiful light and teh detail is superb!
The pig situation ....very funny!!!
The boys are all the same ill prepared til the last minute, pity you can't bottle that scared feeling & give them a shot two months before exams!!
It has taken my grandson an extra year in sixth form to discover that ...that & visiting unis he fancies, thats the biggest sour of all!
@cookie123 Thanks Bernadette, Just the macro lens, close in - no cropping on this occasion. Must admit, I am really pleased with the Canon EF 100mm f.2.8 lens
@dandolo No I was kicking myself because my husband had gone off to collect our pigs in my car, which is where my tripod was! So I had to have the ISO quite high to get a fast enough shutter speed to avoid camera shake. I did sharpen it a bit using a high pass filter in PSE8.
Oh Blimey - feeling a bit sick now. 'Our' art drama starts on Thursday. The folder seems to be surprisingly ok but the final piece would appear to be 'in the mind'. I have been suggesting a practice run to see if it's going to work all holiday but he keeps saying 'I know what I'm doing'. And then two days later he says, 'Oh I've decided what I'm going to do now.' Aaarghhh - and he's terrible at finishing things. Hope you've got him sorted - ill be sending mine over to you! Oh and found out on Sat that the hockey coach went to Warwick School - bit of an all round sportsman.
Lovely details and shadow in this shot. Kids are all the same however big they are. My son is 29 and still leaves everything until the last minute, but as Alison says, they have to get on with it at that age.
