a biological imperative

This is another shot from the butterfly farm.

I suspect that his rather tatty looking butterfly was nearing the end of her life. She was so desperate to lay her eggs that she was laying them anywhere she could, including in a crease on the arm of my white shirt, and here in a crevice on my tripod.
