Spent some time in the garden taken macro flower shots yesterday and on the way back to the house I noticed what I assume are the same three snakes I had seen earlier in the week mating in the pond. I sat down to try to take some shots and this one came straight towards me. At first I thought that I wished I had a polarising filter, but actually I quite like the reflection.
Reflection is great. My 'macro' only does macro - no distance focus which I'm guessing is the compromise with the price. We were chased in a barge by a hissing grass snake once - they are quite scary on water.
Wow, I'm amazed it came towards you. Snakes have always dashed away from me—just as well as most were poisonous. I love the way it seems to be looking straight at you and your timing is incredible with the tongue out. Fav!
What a perfect capture Jan! We just started seeing water snakes again at the lake - they haven't been seen in decades so they are coming back at least in my area. Some snakes in my area (Ontario, Canada) are on the endangered list - so always good to see them....
