After a bit of dithering I grabbed my camera and jumped in my car in the hope of getting a sunset shot from a gateway that I had seen earlier in the day.
I was cutting it fine and definitely not helped by the fact that I ended up stuck in the midst of a flock of about 30 young pheasants that were walking down the lane and doing that pheasanty thing where they aren't what sure what to do when a car comes and run about 30 yards along the road. Stop.... and start to head for the hedgerow.... then change their minds and head for the opposite hedgerow...... then run along the road a bit more. This is bad when there is just one of them doing it but in this case all 30 were, and they were completely unsynchronised.
I got there in the end. Took a very few shots before the sun completely disappeared and was quite happy with the result.
My youngest son Sam came up with the title because he said it looks like earth, fire and ice. He is usually quite critical of my photos but actually deigned to say that he quite likes this one.
Poor boy, he has been playing rugby today, landed on his bum and has a bruised coccyx. Ouch!
This is beautiful and an apt title from your son. Amazing to hear about so many pheasants all in one place - not something seen here in NZ in such numbers - one or two together if you are lucky. Hope the rugby injury settles quickly - a tough spot to land on!
Thanks Dianne, you wouldn't normally see so many together in the UK, but they are bred by a local farmer for shoots on his land. Sometimes they go a bit 'off piste'
Fave Jan......loved reading about your day as usual. Worth all the rushing about to catch this stunner......three completely different layers...well titled!
Speaking as the careless owner of one dysfunctional coccyx Sam has my sympathies.
