.... that George suffers from skin problems? The first thing he does (every damn time) his lead is taken off is rub himself on the ground, in a kind of running along without using his front legs kind of way, whilst writhing around to ensure maximum coverage. Most infuriating. If only he could somehow make the connection between doing this and the cold shower that it inevitably results in, life would be better for both of us.
When we first got him I wondered if he had some sort of itchy skin complaint, but until recently he has never been an itchy chap.
This week seems to be turning into 'George Week', and just to prove the point, there is another picture of him, looking rather more dignified in my 'Other Stuff' album.
Well he looks pleased with himself at least but my word is he a state!! Today for the first time whilst I removed my filthy clodded wellies and again hosed the filthy dog (which improved the mud but not the smell), I wondered if city living would be preferable. I have been dreaming of wearing a nice coat and expensive boots and floating around department stores …….…. Instead I still have the chickens to clean out and cat sick to clean off the carpet!
@lucycameron you swan round John Lewis with them in Cambridge but I never tried in case Monty forgot himself and cocked his leg....
You wondering why he was re-homed Jan? Good job he’s so gorgeous!
He’s acting like a boy dog Jan...always into lumber & muck! He looks a happy explorer!
On the subject of dirty dogs, Connie went straight into a warm bath this afternoon & doggy shampoo!
We are in the happy position at the moment of not bothering if dirty dogs come in the house with a bit of mud on them! She likes the warm water but she gets swilled off at home! @judithg. @lucycameron
@judithg not really. Spending a short time in his company was enough to make us realise that you do have to be a non-house proud, deaf, dog lover with strong arms, a tolerance for food theft and high patience levels to truly love him.
Most of his quirky behaviours are a result of the fact that I think he was largely ignored for the first 5 years of his life. And he cant help the fact that he didn't inherit the non-moulting genes that most members of the doodle breeds are famed for. 🙄
Love your narrative Jan. Reminds me of what I go through twice a day with my two. You'd think they'd learn that the hosing they get is relative to how filthy they have managed to get!

I must admit I have been thinking about making a nice new wool coat with my new sewing machine, but then I thought..... what's the point?
