Cromwell stayed here...

Tudor Cottage Restaurant in Church Street is one of Warrington's oldest and most recognised buildings, made famous by Oliver Cromwell staying in it in 1648 after chasing an army of Scots from Preston to Warrington Bridge where they surrendered.
