When an injured animal comes in to our small clinic, that animal is stressed and frightened..... it does not know we are trying to help... we are just a bigger animal that has seized ahold of it and it has no idea what we plan to do.
Of course, giving a wild animal an exam means securing the legs and wings so we can get a clear picture of what the injury is and how to help it.
There's nothing to be afraid of ... keep in mind, that eagle's foot is larger than my hand... and still I jumped in to secure the foot and leg so my boss could do her exam.
Hopefully, this American Bald Eagle will be with us a short time and will be free before too long.
@365projectorgjenfurj Thank you !!! I just follow my boss's directions and instructions.. she is the wildlife rehabilitator.... she is the expert. I am so fortunate to be working at the center .... we see about 500 injured wildlife critters a year.... it's never boring.
The injuries are minor ... after a couple of weeks of meds...food and rest... it will be released...
@francoise Bigger than my HAND...not head.... I had to make sure I didn't type "head" ...... keep in mind I have average-sized hands .... so my hands aren't huge ....lol
@365karly1 Those talons are impressive to say the least.... and I love my job.... it is fascinating... never the same thing twice ... and I just never know what to expect on any given day!
