arrowheads

These are three arrowheads from my father's collection. He was an avid collector of American Indian artifacts and was very knowledgable on the subject. When I was a child we would often go as a family out into the country to look for arrowheads in plowed fields and such. It was a lot of fun and a great outdoor family activity - fond memories. In those days, it was not hard to find fields where no one cared if we walked through. When I was very young sometimes I was a little afraid that we might actually see Indians with bows and arrows. I don't know if these particular arrowheads were ones that he found in those adventures or if he collected them otherwise. I found it hard to figure out how to photograph these to make them look as special as they are.
They are beautifully displayed and presented. Just look at these textures and shapes, slight shadows and sleek reflections. Looking for arrowheads is a wonderful memory! They were always great treasures to find--and this pic is such a nice way to honor a treasured memory.
