above the clouds by jerome

above the clouds

Good mountain weather the young day seems to promise. Sunlight floods the peaks.
But beware: Beyond the tree border the mountain has his own rules. Quickly the weather can change.

Dachstein, Upper Austria.

Many thanks for your nice attention to this picture, which put it on TT! I am very honored.
The view from above must be as glorious as it is from below....

Outstanding

Spectacular image. Must be astonishing to be in one of those balloons.
March 4th, 2017
Excellent image Jerome, those balloons make the scenery even more special. But I don't think I'd be risking a balloon trip amongst those peaks.
March 4th, 2017
Beautiful! Those balloons are in the right place at the right time.

Jerome I presume you are a mountain climber...? You seem to get right there in amongst it. I love how the fluffy clouds help delineate the interesting line of the rocky mountain top across the image.

The hot air balloons look so small! And the sky looks so threatening - love it!
March 4th, 2017
The Canberra balloon spectacular starts next week and I am looking forward to capturing the balloons. My photos won't be as spectacular as this shot though.

A ride with a balloon over the Alps - it might be possible that I do this once. However, it is not a cheap pleasure.
March 5th, 2017
@pickerandagrinner Yes I agree with you. Maybe, some day, I take a few photos - from a balloon over the Alps... A nice idea for me...
March 5th, 2017
@nicolecampbell I am looking forward to your balloon pictures!
March 5th, 2017
@hrs I'm not an extreme climber. I'm sometimes on fixed-rope routes, but do not go on very difficult tours. I prefer mountain hiking with as little equipment as possible. So you are the most free, also have less to drag and can enjoy the mountains much more.
Thanks for your nice visit!

this is amazing, a gorgeous shot. Fancy seeing balloons at such altitude! faav
March 5th, 2017
Jerome, superlatives for your work have been overworked (justifiably) and lesser ones, no point..... i've been sat here a good 10 minutes absorbed in the intricate details/light/space/atmosphere and cannot find the words..
March 5th, 2017
Don't the balloons look insignificant. Great shot.

It makes me humble when I read how much you dedicated yourself to my picture. It really touches me very much. Thank you so much! My best greetings to Huddersfield - must be a beautiful town. There are certainly very nice places for hiking in Yorkshire.

What a lovely find in the sky! How many days do you go out and hike? FAV!
March 8th, 2017
I'm sure those people up there are getting some lovely images of their own, but I LOVE this that you've taken from below! I must ask again, since you're photography is so excellent and you go to so many places others may never got to see, are your photos published in any magazines? If not, they certainly should be! National Geographic, Conde Naste Traveler and any ski magazines are the first to come to mind! So OK, now you can leave me a reply and thank you!
March 8th, 2017
@tskipper Thank you, Tami!
My tours usually last only one day. My job is very demanding, unfortunately I have too little time for the mountains. I always go in the dark and reach the mountains in the first twilight. So I can take the whole day for a hike.
March 8th, 2017
@Weezilou Dear Louise, excuse me for being late. Thanks a lot for your comment!
It flatters me very much that you suspect my pictures in such well-known magazines. But I have never offered a photo of me to a magazine. I have no corresponding contacts and I do not know how to proceed here. But I guess it's very difficult.
Thank you for your kind words!
