about roofs and doves

Detail of a facade of a townhouse in Krumau.
Great shapes and angle and I love that you captured birds in it, too.

Jerome, I was online and saw your name come up in my Notifications. Thanks so much for your kind comments and picking some favs from my small project. I have taken a look at some of your photos. Every single one is AWESOME! I am now going to follow you and learn from you. Thanks again.

I don't usually like tilted images but this one works really well.

Your pov makes the combination of building and doves on a diagonal into an excellent photo (as usual). I do like the way the pan-tiles on the tops of those whatever-they're-called strengthen the staight lines with lines of small circles.

What a beautiful shot! I’ve just been looking at all your pictures of Krumau - they’re all so beautiful. Thank you for sharing them and for all the additional information it’s so interesting to read.

Couldn't be any more perfect!

Like the offset angle. Looks almost like a flight of WWII planes flying overhead.

what a lovely patina there is on the walls of this old building. Nice angle...makes you look afresh at the repetition of the shapes of the building. I like the birds saying by

@hrs "...the birds saying bye..." - a very nice phrase. I will keep it in my memory.
Thanks, Helen! I really appreciate your visits.

@jernst1779 Thank you, Jernst, for your very kind words! I will gladly follow you back.
You are retired - I would also like to have more time for taking pictures. The job, however, stresses me a lot.
Best regards to Massachusetts!

Thank you all for your nice comments!

The tilted angle in architectural photography... How do I handle with it in that case...
I usually also see a motif, a picture, as very "abstract" - I see lines, surfaces, chiaroscuro, directions,... and try this to see in context or to create pictorial connections. The section drops much of the facade. The window is more a dark triangle than a window. The roof tiles form a rhythmically cascading line sequence, as do the white longitudinal edges at full sunlight.
The pigeons follow these directions. Then playing with different contrasts, brightness,... There are several versions of this picture. And I like old plaster with history.

@jerome I greatly admire your thinking, wish I could emulate that process. I keep trying, not much success yet.

@golftragic
I draw a lot from the pictures of artists I admire. If something appeals to me, I wonder why this is so. So in the beginning a feeling surrounds me. At the same time I would like to organize, also locate. Not everything can be explained - some people regret this, some deny it... I think it's great. But in painting and also in photography a lot can be determined, interpreted, located and understood. I think it's about the right balance. That's the main challenge: balance - in everything that matters to us humans..

@jerome Thanks for sharing all that with me Jerome, I do appreciate your generosity. I fear my ignorance of art and its nuances is a considerable hindrance, but I'll keep trying - and keep your thought patterns in mind.

@golftragic I am happy to share with you and I am very happy if you like my work. There is always something new and beautiful to discover. Unfortunately, life is too short for everything ...

@jerome You're right Jerome, so much to see and do, so little time.
