Climb to the mountain Hirscheck. View to the peaks of the mountain range "Totes Gebirge" ("dead mountains"). The name is probably derived from the largely vegetation-free areas. These mountains are heavily karstified and rainwater seeps away quickly.
@golftragic Dear Marnie, thank you for your dear lines!
You touch upon something very important: the orientation when hiking in the mountains. I know many mountains, but not all. And I always like to look for unknown mountains. In the past, orientation was not easy - just with a paper map. Today I have an outdoor gps with me when I'm in the mountains. In the Internet I am looking for the necessary information about length, difficulty level, potential danger spots,... And for many tours you find gps routes for download. That is extremely helpful. Getting lost in the mountains can be very uncomfortable. With today's mobile phones, the opportunities to be found and rescued have increased significantly. But you should not rely on that.
I realise now that I didn't comment on this beautiful scene. I was struggling to comment these last few days. Of course it is wonderful. I am so impressed by the depth you have achieved. This scene evokes strong memories for me of hiking on our honeymoon in Switzerland. We were with friends who knew the mountains well. We stopped at a grassy slope just like this, with views over the mountain ranges, to light a barbeque lunch.
@helenhall Thank you, Helen, for your nice comment!
I feel much the same as you. Unfortunately I do not have the time to devote myself to commenting as I would like to. I have bad conscience if I'm behind or not writing anything. Then I always hope for leniency.
Honeymoon you spent in the mountains - how beautiful! And apparently the weather also suited for a barbeque. I am very glad that you associate the mountains with such a nice experience.

The mountains are very important to me. I am fine when I climb a summit and feel that the mountain welcomes me.
