@callymazoo I used a macro 105mm. With a macro lens you can better control the depth of field. I achieved the black background with a black T-shirt, which I mounted on a cardboard and placed behind the flowers. With the black I wanted to increase the yellow of the flower.
I did the fine tuning with Photoshop.
so lovely Jerome. It seems to be giving a cheery wave as if to acknowledge its place at the end of the tulip season. I love how you have emphasised the leaf shape and curves.
@golftragic Thank you for your kind interest, Marnie!
An addendum to T-shirt: I just took what I had on hand for a black background. A black T-shirt (gives a matt black) was stored in the garden shed - it had served its time and was intended as a cleaning cloth for its final purpose. Cardboard was also stored in a corner. I attached everything to a stick, with which I rammed the gadget into the ground behind the flowers. So I could position everything comfortably and my hands were free for photography.
But you can use other material instead of the T-shirt - e.g. a black card.
Anyway: Have fun taking pictures and "good light"!
@jerome Thank you for the extra information Jerome, as you'd know I don't take many garden-type photos, but I'll certainly use the technique elsewhere sometime soon. :)
