The yellow umbrella - symbol of the protest movement in Hongkong since 2014. Protection against police action with pepper spray and tear gas, it became a symbol and emblem for the protesters.
Activists stand trial now. They wanted democratic relations with free elections.
Who will win in this world - dictatorship or democracy, servitude or freedom of expression, violence or humanism.... I mean, Hongkong concerns us all.
The human condition is so disturbing so much of the time. Here's to hoping decency and fairness can prevail. This is a brilliant photo in so many ways, love this.
@elatedpixie@haskar@graemestevens@koalagardens@aikiuser@pamknowler@casablanca@louannwarren@leonbuys83@dutchothotmailcom@milaniet@shutterbug49@lilh Thank you for taking the time for this topic! I think such issues should also be taken up and creative solutions should be tried. I mean, democracy, freedom of expression and free elections do not only affect Hong Kong. All over the world there are places where these fundamental rights are at risk or do not exist. And I mean, they have to be lived, protected and developed every day. I think the more people open a yellow umbrella, the more likely these efforts are to be successful.
How desperate young people in Hong Kong have to be that they are risking their careers, their health, even their lives, for their ideas. They have my sympathies.
