baroque heaven

View of the ceiling of the Passau cathedral. I made a bike tour to this nice German city on the border with Austria. Three rivers unite at this point (Danube, Inn and Ilz).
Ecclesiastical building activities have been here since the 5th century. The baroque new building was erected in the 17th century. The largest baroque interior north of the Alps was created here.
Truly impressive! I looked this up to learn where it is - I like how you say it's a "new" building; and it really is when you consider how ancient the site is! Would love to see this in person!

Great capture of this ornate ceiling. Itโ€™s not any easy thing to photograph well, as I found out when I tried to take some shots of Vatican ceilings, which did not work out nearly as well for me. May I ask if you used a fisheye lens?

@gardencat Thank you, Joanne, for your kind interest! I didn't use a fish eye.
It is a panorama of eight individual images. I combine these images into a whole with Photoshop.
There are other programs for this purpose, such as "Image Composite Editor", which you can download for free. However, this program can only process jpg files. Photoshop can also handle raw files.
If you have any questions - please do not hesitate.

@summerfield Thank you, dear Vicki, for your kind visit!
It's nice that you also think of the workers who made this building with great effort - stone on stone.
I am always amazed how people were able to create such buildings and even bigger ones - long before our time. I am particularly thinking of the ancient world.
I am also interested in technology. The history of mankind is also a history of technology. The ancient Greeks invented cranes. They weren't just thinkers and theorists, as some think. Our word "technology" comes from them, they coined the word "tรฉchne". The Romans were excellent engineers and technicians. They have developed the cranes further. Cranes were also used to build cathedrals. A link with pictures: https://buffaloah.com/a/DCTNRY/c/crane.html
