Mrs B's Great Adventure (5) Spread my wings

Brimstones always rest with wings together so we never see the pretty and delicate detail of the upper side of them. Cheating - video & extracting stills - allows shots such as this.
Mrs B has lost part of her lower left wing but it hasn't affected her ability to fly.

She is pretty fuzzy isn't she? Thank you for the close-up!

@stownsend She's very beautiful, he is much more yellow, almost butter coloured. It's believed by some that the name "butterfly" arose because of the male's distinct colouration.

Excellent macro capture of Mrs B! I think it's amazing that butterflies can fly with damaged wings. :-)

@fbailey Another female briefly inspected my tiny tree yesterday but flew away. Thank you, jx

@gaylewood Thanks, Gayle. They are able to fly with far less wing tissue than Mrs B has, no idea how

@susie1205 Thank you, Susie. Her eggs have changed colour and will need close and careful watching. Hope for baby caterpillars on Monday.

Very nice, the improved video really helps in getting some great shots. I'll have to try it sometime.

@joev Thanks, Joe. With luck - a lot! - I'll be able to see the baby caterbugs emerging. Won't hold my breath though.

@julienne1 Thanks, a "cheat" a still extracted from video - but hey, it gets me shots I probably wouldn't otherwise.
