Soul by jesika2

Soul

I stepped into my garden as the Church bells struck the hour and, surrounded by blossoms, birds, bees and butterflies, remembered.
Separated at birth by 17 days and an ocean, we became instant and permanent friends when we met in 1969.
I returned to England in 1971 and it was almost 40 years before we were able to meet again. The bond was as strong as ever. She met my friends at her surprise birthday party. Explored the glories of Yorkshire's Moors, Dales and Coast and the historic city of York where I now live.
Then our final days together in December 2015, precious beyond words.
Some say a butterfly represents a soul.
I hoped that our long distance migrant visitor would arrive this week and on Wednesday, August 1st, Yorkshire Day, the beautiful Painted Lady arrived, the soul of my friend, my sister, my Twin.
Rest in peace
Poignant and so delicate.

@s4sayer Thank you, Margo. The Painted Lady is exactly the right butterfly. I'll never see one again without thinking of my friend...

@stownsend Thank you, Suzie. I treasure every memory, even when she was being the bossy older Twin!
