It's hard to think a beautiful butterfly developed inside this tiny space. This chrysalis is the most perfect I've found of any species, with very little damage. If you look closely you can see the deliberate "fault lines" where the shell opens so the crumpled imago can escape, wriggle around, pump haemolymph into the wings to inflate them and then wait quietly for them to dry & harden.
