Star trails.
240 15 sec exposures at ISO 1250 with the very clever Olympus Live Composite setting.
Point the camera (North Star conveniently over the chimney!) sturdy tripod, set it off let it do its job.

great result :)

Well done.

@koalagardens @sdutoit I can claim no credit, the little camera does all the hard work. I just had to find the North Star, set off the camera and wait. Thank you both j

Well done! There is much light from the nearby towns where we live so it is difficult to see all the stars at night.

@pej the Oly is very clever. Each exposure just picks up new light so there are no blown highlights. I can’t do Milky Way locally but hope to get to a much darker area in the early summer. That will just be a single exposure of about 12 seconds - I think(!)

Wow that Olympus is smart!

So. Cool. :)

@rontu @milaniet @rhoing I don’t have to do much. Just set live composite, exposure length, ISO, point at my target, focus, push the button and follow instructions. For trails I just let the battery run out. Beats trying to merge multiple exposures with software. Thank you very much j

This is something I'll have to try when we're away from city light pollution :)

@merrelyn you can “play” in your own garden, the camera’s sensor picks up far more than your eyes can see. It also will give you the opportunity to test exposure length, ISO etc. Good luck, have fun, hope to see results

I am so very impressed!!

@fbailey thank you. Sometimes I play with filters and point at the clouds, long exposures create odd patterns. I think there’s one on my portfolio somewhere. Xx

That's amazing! I need to investigate that camera...

@janturnbull My EM10 is the original one, I believe there is at least one and possibly 2 more recent versions. LIke most modern cameras it does lots of things you'll never use it for but I like the easy way to do star trails & hopefully this summer I'll get to use it for Milky Way photos.
